At InspiHER, we believe that empowerment begins with knowledge. We recognize that financial literacy is just as essential to preparing teens for independence and leadership.

Why Financial Literacy Matters

For many teens, money management feels like a distant concern, something to think about “later.” Yet habits formed now shape the choices they’ll make as adults. Understanding how to budget, save, and invest equips young people not just to navigate life’s challenges, but to pursue their dreams without being held back by financial barriers.

Practical Skills, Lifelong Impact

Financial literacy is about building confidence and security. Teens who learn early how to:

  • Create a simple budget

  • Understand credit and debt

  • Save toward short- and long-term goals

  • Recognize the power of compound interest

  • Make informed decisions about spending

are more likely to step into adulthood with stability and resilience.

InspiHER’s Role

Our vision is bold: every girl should have the opportunity to discover her strengths, explore career paths in STEM, and gain the financial tools that allow her to succeed. That’s why we pair technical training with financial literacy workshops that teach not only how to code or build robots, but also how to manage income, plan for higher education, and even explore entrepreneurship.

Mentorship Beyond the Classroom

Mentorship doesn’t end when the program does. InspiHER instructors and mentors stay connected with students, helping them navigate opportunities—from internships to networking—while reinforcing financial responsibility along the way. We hope our students will “light the fire and keep it burning” for future generations, becoming role models in both STEM and financial independence.

Between Today’s Teachers and Tomorrow’s Leaders

Financial literacy is the bridge between the skills teens learn today and the lives they’ll lead tomorrow. By combining STEM education with the tools to manage resources wisely, we’re preparing students for reaching for their career goals.

At InspiHER, we see a future where every girl is equipped to take charge of her dreams, her finances, and her future.

With an eye toward understanding the challenges underprivileged children face in accessing quality education, we set out to identify initiatives that could meaningfully support their educational journey. Through community input, InspiHER identified clothing, bedding and blankets, and books as the most critical unmet needs. To address this, we piloted a local effort by organizing fundraising and collection drives in the East San Francisco Bay Area. Together, we raised $251 and collected 32 bags of clothing and bedding, directly supporting children and families in need.

InspireHer’s founders are on a mission to pave the way for the next generation of women in tech. Research shows that the most formative time for girls to develop a lasting interest in science and math is between the ages of 11 and 15.

While many programs teach coding to young girls, InspireHer offers a broader perspective—spotlighting the rapidly growing field of cybersecurity alongside other tech careers. They also know it takes a village to make change happen.

InspireHer runs weekly, free Python classes to keep school-aged girls engaged in STEM during school and beyond. Over the course of five months, participants explore a wide range of technology careers—many of which extend far beyond sitting at a desk writing code.

The program’s curriculum also builds communication skills, including mastering public speaking. With an emphasis on cybersecurity, girls learn to be responsible digital citizens—staying safe online, protecting personal data, and combating cyberbullying.

InspireHer’s vision is bold: they want every girl to have access to the program and the opportunity to discover her strengths while exploring career paths in all areas of STEM—from data science to robotics to network security.

Mentorship doesn’t end when the program does. Instructors stay connected, helping girls with networking, internships, and other tech-related opportunities. The hope is that these students will “light the fire and keep it burning” for future generations.

Between today’s teachers and tomorrow’s leaders, InspireHer is building the bridge.
